God’s Gift: Christmas, Donor’s Gift: Basketball Court,St. Anthony’s &Darshan College, Kengeri.
St. Anthony’s and Darshan College witnessed a fabulous festive celebration of Christmas and of New Year 2014. The first crib at the college was prepared and decorated by the initiatives of the students and the staff. The Spirit-filled students welcomed the Chief Guests in the Persons of Rev. Fr. William Patrick, Parish Priest of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Kengeri; Rev. Fr. SalvadoreFernandes, Vicar & Dean of Studies, Darshan Institute of Theology, Deena Seva Ashram; Rev. Sr. Anitha, the Superior of Maria Nilaya, JnanaBhodini High School; Mr. Shiva Shanker, Friend and Well-wisher of St. Anthony’s &Darshan College; and the newly appointed Principal of Darshan College of Commerce & Management, Prof. A. S. Chalam. The whole campus resonated the Carols, students performed various Christmas programmes. “Christmas is a Universal Birthday Celebration of Jesus which breaks all the barriers and carries the message of love, peace and joy” said Rev. Fr. William Patrick. At Christmas “God invites each individual to believe, to become and to belong so that one realizes fully the God-given gift of life, thus responds to God and to one another in freedom and in love” proclaimed Rev. Fr. SalvadoreFernandes. Let the modern culture remember that “The Birth of Christ has changed the whole history of humanity, let not this message of love, peace and reconciliation be diluted with all the external celebrations. May Jesus-Christ be born again in the hearts of each one” reminded Rev. Sr. Anitha. With much gratitude and thanks to the Donor a long awaited dream and desire of having a Basketball court was realized. The Parish Priest blessed and inaugurated the Basketball court, Prof. A. S. Chalam& Shiva Shankergave the first movement to the Balls, then the students tasted the maiden match.
